Maryland SPCA Job Description Job title: Individual Giving Manager Reports to: Development Director Salary range: $63,000-80,000 FLSA status: Exempt Date created : 04/14/2023 Position Summary: The Maryland SPCA seeks a charismatic and accomplished individual giving manager with a history of securing five- and six-figure gifts. The i ndividual giving manager must be passionate about animal welfare and committed to providing excellent donor experience. The MD SPCA is a $7M+ organization with about half of annual revenue raised by an eight-member development team. With two employees, the individual giving manager leads a comprehensive program of personal and familial donors, including major, mid-tier, planned, and recurring gifts as well as direct marketing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plan and execute a strategy that increases annual revenue and builds donor relations with a capital campaign in mind. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of prospective and current donors for major and planned gifts. Maximize an existing database of over 88,000 constituents to identify opportunities for donor growth at all giving levels. Revamp the existing Lifesavers stewardship program to improve donor experience. Recruit and collaborate with board members, program leaders, and other volunteers as networkers and co-solicitors. Administer the planned giving program, including engagement with lawyers, estate planners, executors, and personal representatives. Analyze and report on acquisition, upgrades, and retention to continually improve appeal strategy. Draft proposals, presentations, correspondence, newsletters, and other supporting materials for private solicitations and public appeals. Manage, coach, and mentor the annual fund and mid-tier donor specialists. Assist with other projects as assigned. Competencies: Accountability. Analytical and strategic thinking. Qualifications: Four+ years of development or related experience with demonstrated success closing five- and six-figure gifts. Two+ years of experience in staff management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish confidence with stakeholders. High level of organization, attention to detail and ability to be self-motivated. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRMs. Ability to work well in a team environment, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Working Conditions: This is a full-time position based in the office. Remote work is considered on a case-by-case basis, taking individual and team needs into account. Remote work will be reevaluated based on success in a remote setting. The MD SPCA provides a shared office setting. Applicants should expect a low to moderate noise level and limited privacy. Occasional off-site meetings, evening and weekend work hours will be required. Exposure to animals, which includes the risk of scratches and bites and occasional high noise levels. Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, with some standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Use of computer and telephone. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
