Salary:This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of 24.26 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience. CDL Positions: Candidates with a current CDL will earn an additional 1 per hour for this position. Candidates without a CDL will be given 90 days to obtain their CDL, with training provided by INDOT, and will then earn an additional 1 per hour upon successfully obtaining their CDL. Location:This position is in INDOTs Vincennes District. Role Overview:Responsible for qualifying and verifying acceptance personnel performing sampling/testing of materials produced and placed on INDOT contracts. Interprets and ensures proper implementation of testing procedures outlined in AASHTO, ASTM, and ITM Test Methods. Creates, maintains, and administers district provided training on selected testing procedures. Responsible for calibration, allocation, and records for all INDOT Vincennes Construction testing equipment. A Day in the Life:: Incumbent reports and is direclty accountable to the District Testing Engineer. : The Independent Assurance Technician (IAT) works in the District Testing Department and is responsible for implementing the Departments Independent Assurance and Qualified Acceptance Personnel Program (IAQAPP). : Conducts proficiency checks on Qualified/Certified technicians through administering written exams and performing the appropriate proficiency testing on specified test methods. : Performs comparison sampling and testing in accordance with the Departments IAQAPP program. : Instructs trains and assists qualified acceptance testers in proper testing procedures and in correcting deficient testing procedures or equipment. : Maintains documentation including completion of proficiency checklists, filing paperwork, maintaining the SiteManager Databse and non:comparison investigations. : Prepares annual Department report for submittal to the FHWA. Maintains and calibrates construction field testing equipment. Assists in annual audits of certified material suppliers. : Supervises/Participates in PCC trial batch demonstrations and embankment and subbase test pad constuction. : Performs verification sampling of pre:approved materials. : Teaches Certified Technician classes and Qualification trai
