Hyperbaric Technician-Wound Care

Job Summary: Reporting to the Program Director, the Hyperbaric Technician (HBO Tech) administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider. This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems, as well as for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient. The HBO Tech must perform their job responsibilities according to all Cayuga Medical Center (CMC) as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED (General Education Development) Current healthcare professional certification or license as applicable in state of practice -to maintain throughout the duration of employment in this role. This applies to: Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Licensed Practical Nurse Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Certified Nursing Assistant Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist Two (2) or more years' experience in healthcare preferred Prior experience in wound or critical care preferred, willing to train the right candidate Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification - to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in this position Initial and ongoing work-related competencies Hyperbaric equipment and systems troubleshooting skills Attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Basic math skills Organization and time-management skills Problem-solving skills Customer service and follow-up skills Ability to stay calm and relax patients Working knowledge of software applications for wound management preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) Cayuga Health System Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Cayuga Health System commits to treat all people with dignity so that everyone who comes to us is safe, cared for, and respected.
