POSITION SUMMARY: The Service Manager’s primary responsibility will be to provide and maintain support of the Company’s field associates and client facilities. This includes performance of field quality assurance surveys, equipment operational and performance tests, and review of trade standards. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent. Apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. 6-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area, or completion of accredited HVAC school with an Associate’s Degree. 5+ years of managing staff, or equivalent combination of education and experience. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: EPA Refrigerant handling certification required. OSHA certification a plus. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record and background check. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtain working knowledge of Company operations, portfolio of services, policies and procedures. Implementation and execution of those as necessary. Review equipment historical data, PM reports and provide insight to equipment performance trends and identify needed repairs, overhaul or replacement. Leadership of service / project associates as well as experience in related trades of piping, sheet metal, and subcontractors. Promptly address customer complaints to assure resolution and maintain long-term relationships. Oversees the delivery of the Gross Profit and Gross Margin as required by the annual budget. Ability to review equipment historical data, PM reports and provide insight to equipment performance trends and identify needed repairs, overhaul or replacement. Oversee budget, labor costs, supply costs, inventories, and ensure services are in agreement between AFO and the client. Ability to document field observations and provide reports to management on equipment evaluations, provide methods to improve comfort and efficient operation while extending equipment life. Provide direction for dispatch and sub-contractors to ensure we exceed customer expectations and commitments. Work closely with the Service coordinators on the daily dispatching of the service technicians and maintaining the on-call schedule for emergency service. Work closely with VP of Service Operations to ensure success of daily operations. Monitors and reviews all service calls / PM activity daily, weekly, monthly. Provide field technical support for the service technicians. Provide technical direction and review of equipment tasking, repair proposals, and recommendations for unit repair and replacement. Provide support for material and equipment ordering. Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual operating process and improvements. Work closely with clients to ensure that we are meeting all performance standards and expectations, and are viewed as a strategic partner that understands their operating needs and requirements. Assess the current condition of electrical, building automation, HVAC, plumbing and other essential facilities equipment. Maintain accurate records of the condition of equipment and other systems in the facilities. Assure that truck inventory is accurately tracked through tech anywhere and periodical manual inventory. Assist in monthly refrigerant inventory of all technician trucks. Inspect and assure proper truck maintenance is being followed. Monitor driver safety prodigal and take necessary steps to ensure safe driving habits. Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and other local, state, and federal government regulations. May assume on-call rotation if service technicians are unavailable. Work with HR on reports, testing, and all Company policies for job related safety injuries, safety violations and truck accidents. Maintain manhour planner to ensure technician staffing is adequate to meet client service needs. Recruitment and hiring of new service technicians. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have a complete understanding of the refrigerant cycle, and have a basic electrical knowledge. Must be able to work from plans customary to the trades area, including the ability to understand electrical schematics as they pertain to HVAC systems. Technician must have superior skills in the operation of most basic power and hand tools common to the HVAC trade. Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems. DESIRED COMPUTER / SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE: Microsoft Word (Beginner - Intermediate). Ability to generate professional correspondence. Microsoft Excel (Intermediate - Advanced). Ability to create formulas, pivot tables, import/export to and from databases. Microsoft Access (Beginner). Microsoft Outlook Accounting Software (Sampro, QuickBooks, Peachtree, Great Plains, etc.) CRM software (Connect, Salesforce, etc.) PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND ENVIRONMENT: The following physical activities described are representation of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
