Primary Function : The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including Onboarding/Offboarding and the lifecycle of the employee, as well as company policies and practices administration. Machines/Tools/Equipment Used: Personal Computer, Calculator, Fax, Copier Materials Used: Paper, pen, pencil Supervision Received: Head of Human Resources Direction Exercised : HR Generalist, Plant Nurse, Job Responsibilities : Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. *Provides support and guidance to HR team members, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. *Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required . *Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. *Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Oversees the daily workflow in the department *Supervise the preparation and maintenance of personnel records for consistent and accurate data reporting and analysis. *Provide expertise and advise on policy administration and application. *Collaborate with Plant Managers in organizational planning and personnel development including evaluation of performance of wage and salaried personnel as it relates to organizational moves *Oversee Training Programs in conjunction with the Training Coordinator Plan community relations’ and Employee Engagement activities in agreement with President, Plant Managers and Head of Human Resources. Physical Requirements : (x) Standing May be up to 10 hours per day on wood or concrete floor (x) Sitting As required to perform tasks; frequency up to 50 times/shift or all day as necessary (x) Moving Throughout Department and other departments to collaborate on issues; up to 30 times/shift – as far as 1200 feet in one direction (x) Climbing As required to go from one level to another; up to 50 times/shift, using stairs, step stool & ladders as necessary (x) Lifting As required to assist others; Anything over 50 pounds requires assistance; frequency may be 500 times/shift for filing and manual tasks (x) Push/Pull May be 500 times/shift; Files, drawers, etc. & assist others (x) Reaching Reach through three body zones and around body; Frequency may be 200 times/shift; weighing up to 20 pounds (x) Visual Acuity Prepare data and enter into PC; Depending on job may be required to detect color; minimum of 20/40 corrected eyesight (x) Bending/Stooping Depending on assignment may be up to 100 times/shift (x) Hearing Adequate to communicate over telephone and in person (x) Other May be required to operate a motor vehicle self-sufficiently to travel as necessary Environmental/Safety Risk Requirements: Exposure to Fiberglass, fly, dust, finishing fumes or other chemicals. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by job/task; Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses and Hearing Protection which is not an inclusive list Prerequisites: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with a minimum of five years of human resource management experience in manufacturing -preferred Or 10 years direct HR leadership experience in a manufacturing setting SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired. Mandatory: Listed in prerequisites above *This position reports onsite to the Altavista Plant each workday. Assessments: Medical – Vision corrected to 20/20, drug screen and Hearing to normal speech Skills and Abilities Necessary to be Considered Successful: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to upgrade to Manager them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
