The position has a primary function to establish working relationships with staff, faculty, and candidates from diverse backgrounds to provide exceptional customer service and positively represent the university. Responsible for oversight of day-to-day operation functions within the Human Resources area including but not limited to employee relations, full-cycle recruiting and all payroll and benefit functions, while also focusing on areas of improvement of efficiency, accuracy and transparency. Leadership Provides guidance and innovative solutions for process improvement to assist in developing strategies to optimize operations and build efficiencies. Manages a team of HR professionals that monitors performance, provides direction and coaching as needed. Human Resources Management Establishes policies, procedures and practices that ensures consistent and transparent employee relations practice. Responsible for the annual review of all HR policies, procedures, and practices including the employee handbook. Ensures all policies, procedures and practices and required labor law notices are posted communicated and updated and serves as an HR liaison for employees and leaders across the University to assist with interpretation. Responsible for oversight of annual compliance reporting such as IPEDS, EEO and any other reporting requirements. Advises on employee relation matters that may include complex situations and develops course of action with identification of potential impact and exposure to liability. Requires ability to work with supervisors for coaching guidance and legal when necessary to address difficult situations and resolve issues and create remedies. This will include managing employee investigations and facilitating disciplinary actions and termination processes and meetings as authorized by senior leadership and legal guidance. Maintains annual salary ranges for all positions, including new positions, partial positions, benefits and ensures they are reviewed per the timeline set by the University. Provides a comparison of market data for salary and benefits to the University offered salary and benefits. Develop HR-related training to provide learning opportunities for Supervisors and the Coker community. This includes all annual training, specialized training requested by departmental leads and general policy training. Other duties as assigned Employee Engagement & Performance Management Assist with the creation and monitoring of Performance Improvement Plans, when applicable. In coordination with the Director of Business Operations, implements, manages, and drives annual review process and goal setting, providing coaching and mentorship for all managers. Manages annual job description review to ensure job descriptions are accurate, and relevant to the needs of the University as well as the reality of each position being performed. Manages the college Reward and Recognition Program Qualifications Five (5) years in HR, with at least two years in a supervisory role. Bachelor's degree in business-related field required, Master's degree and HR certification preferred. Required Skills Must be a creative, self-starter, fast learner that is detail oriented with the ability to multi-task. Must be able to demonstrate a proven ability to provide exceptional high-end customer service and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and substantial customer service experience, active listening and public speaking skills to communicate information to broad audiences, external and internal customers. Strong computer skills and experience with: database management software; Windows Microsoft Office (including MS Word, Excel and Publisher); internet applications such as e-mail, web browsers and other utilities.
