JOB SUMMARY This position will assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of our Human Resource department with a focus on facilitating the hiring process from beginning to end. You will have the responsibility of attracting applicants, evaluating resumes, assist managers with interviews and managing the hiring paperwork. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supports the HR department with recruitment and hiring of new employees. (e.g., placing employment ads, reviewing applications, screening, setting up interviews, completing background and reference checks, arranging orientation, etc.) in conjunction with management team Attend local job/career events to promote open positions at IHB. Responsible for employee onboarding, general orientation and off boarding processes and activities Provides operational support for onboarding new employees, including setting up and terminating employee badges, contact IT for computer and EMR/PM/peripheral access Provides current and prospective employees with information about IHB, its policies, working conditions, and employee benefits Work with providers, managers, and supervisors to assure all non-employee intern/students paperwork is complete. Oversees Volunteer program, including recruitment, screening and placement of volunteers Help develop and administer employee retainment strategies Monitor and ensure compliance of staff with all IHB required training including Environment of Care trainings, HIPAA, Compliance, Risk Management, ongoing clinical training, etc. Assist with updates and communication regarding employee policies and handbook Assists with drafting/revising of job descriptions, evaluation forms, and HR-related information and forms, as requested Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department Maintains personnel tracking and HR record keeping (both electronic database and paper files) in compliance with law, regulations and policies, as assigned by the HR Director EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associates degree in social work/human services, business administration or human resources (preferred) and/or two years' related experience and/or training required Nonprofit health care experience is a plus. Minimum of two years' human resource experience preferred, including knowledge of benefits and administration requirements; labor law and regulations; employee relations, training and development in a non-profit setting Knowledge of and respect for American Indian cultures and other cultures served by IHB. Ability to understand and meet the needs of the patient through respectful, courteous and caring interactions with patients, families and other health professionals. Actively participates and works positively, flexibly and cooperatively in a team effort to accomplish the goals of the Indian Health Board of Minneapolis. Manages time effectively and prioritizes task completion to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Comfort in learning new computer programs. Project and other program development skills Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and the general public HIPAA IHB makes reasonable efforts to limit access to and use of protected health information (PHI) by employees to the minimum necessary performance of assigned duties as outlines in job descriptions. This position is access restricted to PHI needed to carry out health care operations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Important: The Influenza and COVID vaccines are required at Indian Health Board
