Position overview & purpose The HR Director at Ambient Photonics plays a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and collaborative startup work environment. Partnering with the HR team, this position contributes to the overall success of the organization by strategically managing human resources, driving employee engagement, and implementing crucial initiatives such as Performance Management. The HR Director is instrumental in aligning the workforce with the company's mission and values. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, contributing to crucial plans for current and future manufacturing facilities. Essential duties & responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive Performance Management programs to enhance individual and team performance. Collaborate with department leaders to assess organizational needs and develop strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development. Lead HR initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Oversee employee relations, addressing concerns, and ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures. Drive diversity and inclusion efforts to create a workforce that reflects the values of Ambient Photonics. Provide strategic guidance on compensation and benefits programs. Partner with leadership to identify training and development needs, ensuring continuous employee growth. Stay current with HR trends, legislation, and best practices to ensure compliance and forward-thinking strategies. Manage HR metrics and analytics to drive data-driven decision-making. Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering professional development and collaboration. Knowledge, skills & abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to appropriately prioritize and manage multiple requests simultaneously. Organized, detailed, and reliable approach to duties and communication. Excellent judgment and the ability to seek help in critical applications. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Basic qualifications & competencies Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on strategic HR management. In-depth knowledge of HRIS and other relevant software systems. Demonstrated expertise in Performance Management implementation in startups. Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. Preferred qualifications & competencies Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field. SHRM or HRCI certification preferred. Experience in the manufacturing industry. Experience leading change management initiatives. Familiarity with California employment laws and regulations. Familiarity with Massachusetts employment laws and regulations is a plus. Physical demands and working environment Minimal physical demands with occasional standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and bending. Work is primarily indoors within an office environment.
