SUMMARY ShelterCare's Housing Services for Families (HSF) Program of Eugene, OR is seeking to hire an entry level f ull-time Housing Specialist to provide outreach services to households in the community and supportive services to participants at risk of becoming homeless . Our HSF program helps families avoid homelessness or quickly regain housing. We provide financial assistance and supportive services to families who are facing a loss of housing, have already lost housing, are at risk of losing their children due to a housing crisis. ShelterCare is considered a healthcare organization. Following state rule 333-019-XXXX, covered healthcare providers and healthcare staff must provide their employer: Proof of vaccination showing they are fully vaccinated; or documentation of a medical or religious exemption. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The Housing Specialist earns a competitive wage of $16.11 - $18.57 per hour, depending on experience . This is a non-exempt, hourly position. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A HOUSING SPECIALIST As a Housing Specialist, you will help ShelterCare fight homelessness by providing supportive services to Lane County tenants struggling with untreated behavioral health issues. You will work with participants to overcome barriers to housing stability; assess needs; develop action plans; coach skills development; and follow through with goals. You will also assist with the screening and assessment of applicants, performing intakes and inspections, and advocating with landlords, community organizations, and agencies. The Housing Specialist provides vital assistance by assessing domestic violence and abuse issues. As a Housing Specialist, you'll love being able to make a difference in the lives of those you serve. QUALIFICATIONS Required Top-notch organizational skills Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills (Microsoft Suite and Google Suite) Ability to drive agency vehicles Ability to successfully pass a DHS background check Preferred 2 years in behavioral health and/or supported housing services or other relatable field as staff or volunteer Related education in behavioral science including but not limited to an Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree or continuing education/certification Prior professional experience with landlord/tenant issues is strongly preferred Experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness Crisis intervention experience WORK SCHEDULE The schedule for this 40 hour per week position is Monday - Friday , 8:30am - 5:00pm .
