SUMMARY ShelterCare's Permanent Supported Housing program of Eugene, OR is seeking to hire a Full-time entry level Housing Specialist to work closely with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, to assess their needs, assist with the housing searches and encourage stabilization in long-term affordable housing. The Permanent Supported Housing Program serves our program participants through low or no-barrier housing for individuals who have been chronically homeless and living with a variety of disabilities that can include serious mental illness. The program is centered on helping participants by providing trauma-informed, strengths-based case management using a Housing First approach, to address housing needs and facilitate connection to additional resources on a case-by-case basis. ShelterCare is considered a healthcare organization. Following state rule 333-019-XXXX, covered healthcare providers and healthcare staff must provide their employer: Proof of vaccination showing they are fully vaccinated; or documentation of a medical or religious exemption. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The Housing Specialist earns a competitive wage of $16.11 - $18.57/hr, depending on experience. This is a non-exempt, hourly position. Position schedule is 40 hours a week. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOUSING SPECIALIST As a Housing Specialist, you will help program participants navigate and understand the rental market, increasing their knowledge and improving understanding of living independently in the community. You will be part of a dynamic team supporting participants by providing guidance and advocacy with community partners, medical and or behavioral health professionals and community property management teams. You will provide case management to participants, such as providing services for assessing, screening and determining eligibility and program placement. You will also be documenting contacts as required or appropriate to follow funding requirements. As a Housing Specialist, you'll love being able to make a difference in the lives of those you serve! QUALIFICATIONS Required Top-notch organizational skills Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills (Microsoft Suite and Google Suite) Ability to drive agency vehicles Ability to successfully pass a DHS background check Preferred 2 years in behavioral health and/or supported housing services or other relatable field as staff or volunteer Related education in behavioral science including but not limited to an Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree or continuing education/certification Prior professional experience with landlord/tenant issues is strongly preferred Experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness Crisis intervention experience WORK SCHEDULE This position is Full-time.
