What we are looking for: TPG is seeking a motivated, dependable, and safe Heavy Vehicle Driver to test pre-production vehicles and their systems to support a manufacturer and marketer of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Successful candidates will test drive and evaluate pre-production test vehicles on 'real world' durability test routes/tracks, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures, and document findings on driver reports in a clear and concise manner. We set the standards others try to live up to! Test medium-heavy duty trucks in a wide range of testing conditions including engine, transmission, and durability. Employee referral bonus, earn up to $500.00 per referral Safety, quality and professionalism Essential Job Duties Safely operate CDL A test vehicles in a wide range of testing conditions. Ability to operate heavy vehicle manual transmissions, (i.e., class 8, class 6, etc.). Follow detailed instructions for vehicle and component preparation to begin testing. This may include but is not limited to full visual inspection of vehicle including tires, glass, body panels and interior. Checking all vehicle fluids, air pressure, and function of components. Collect data through various data acquisition systems and communicate in accordance with customer protocol Travel 30-40% to various states and ability to cross Canadian border to conduct specialized testing or transport vehicles. Must be comfortable with flying and passport is highly desired. Other duties as requested Interpersonal Able to work cooperatively in diverse & challenging environment Good verbal and written communication skills Reading comprehension skills to interpret test procedures Demonstrates safe work practices Demonstrate ability to follow detailed procedures/instructions Flexible and receptive to new requests Education, Certifications and Qualifications Class A Commercial Driver's License A clean motor vehicle driving record is necessary Passenger endorsement (plus) Lowboy experience (plus) Passport (plus) Safety Able to drive safely in various conditions, follow policies and take ownership for working safely to avoid risks to self and others Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with excellent driving record Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free. Alcohol consumption not permitted 8 hours prior to beginning of start of shift. Able to safely drive in heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions. May support training of others on performance and safe driving skills. Document near misses, make suggestions for reduction of risk exposure and communicate all damage to vehicle including scrapes, dings etc. Participate in and support corrective action plans as requested. Physical and Environmental Job Requirements Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, carrying, and lifting items of up to 25 lbs. or more Prolonged routine sitting for 2 or more hours, and evening and night driving may be necessary Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weather Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels IMPORTANT ITEMS Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free and pass drug screen.
