Skyline Mine is an underground longwall mining complex that began production in 1981. The mining complex is located in Carbon County, UT approximately 5 miles southwest of Scofield, UT and approximately 30 miles northwest of Price, UT. The Skyline Mine lies at a high elevation in the northern end of the Wasatch Plateau coalfield. Skyline has longwall and continuous miner reserves where it produces high-BTU, low-sulfur, compliance thermal coal.We are looking for Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics to join our team. JOB SUMMARY/SCOPE: Responsible for diagnosing and performing maintenance repairs on all heavy equipment used in a coal mining operation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform electrical, mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and repair work on all equipment associated with an underground coal mine. Perform scheduled, unscheduled and preventative maintenance on assigned mine equipment/installations by using numerous types of hand tools, precision measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment (voltmeters, ammeters, etc.) and machine tools to replace parts and components, make repairs, dismantle and reassemble equipment and components as necessary. May be required to operate certain mine equipment to diagnose problems, position it for repairs to be made, test operate after making repairs. May be required to document all or certain work activities and related information. Perform welding and acetylene torch cutting work on as needed basis. Read and interpret blue prints and wiring diagrams and follow maintenance manuals and parts books to set up and perform tasks. Conduct all work activities in compliance with Federal and State coal mining laws and Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Maintain mine equipment at an acceptable availability and reliability to meet budgeted goals in safety, cost, productivity and environmental commitments. PREFERRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: The employee must be able to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show the necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the essential duties as summarized and defined. The employee must exhibit acceptable interpersonal skills and the continuous ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere. A high school diploma, GED or proof of equivalent. A minimum of three years of industrial equipment journeyman mechanical experience, or a combination of experience and education. Experience with Cummins and/or Caterpillar engines associated with coal mining equipment MSHA diesel regulatory experience Must be willing to obtain MSHA electrical certification for surface and underground Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without an accommodation.
