HEAD ITTY BITTY BALL MANAGER CLOSING DATE: Open until Filled PAY RATE: $14.95 - $17.94 (depending on qualifications) SCHEDULE : Work 6 - 3 week sessions throughout the year DEPARTMENT: Recreation JOB SUMMARY Performs a variety of general administrative and front-line supervisory duties as needed to coordinate the organization and operation of the Itty Bitty Ball program. RESPONSIBLITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS As Head Itty Bitty Ball Manager, the expectations for this position are: Assist the Program Coordinator in all activities related to the Itty Bitty Ball program, including but not limited to: staffing, training, lesson plans, evaluations, timekeeping, program budget, program reservations, class schedules, itty bitty ball equipment, and participant enrollment. Must be able to communicate with parents, give verbal instruction to staff, and participants. Responsible for coaching children in different sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, and Soccer). Maintain order in the class. Monitors program activities to assure quality and serves as trouble shooter. This is intended to be a supervisory position although circumstances may, at times, require those with primarily organizational assignments, to perform in additional capacities on an as-needed basis. Recruits, hires, and trains part-time and seasonal personnel needed in conjunction with itty bitty ball program; monitors performance and makes recommendations affecting personnel statuses such as retention, advancement, and discipline. Responsible for equipment associated with program; works with vendors to negotiate equipment pricing; keeps inventory and orders replacement and new equipment as needed; assures a safe and clean environment through periodic safety checks. Gives recommendations to supervisor for the program budget; makes revenue projections; monitors on-going expenditures to assure compliance with fiscal goals; advises in the establishment of program fees. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: A successful candidate will meet these minimum requirements: Graduation from high school AND Two (2) years' experience performing above or related duties; Three (3) or more years preferred. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience A successful candidate will also have the following skills and abilities: Working knowledge of methods, techniques, and philosophies of developing and operating a recreation program. Knowledge of liability issues and injury. Organizational skills; personal computers and various software applications including spreadsheets and word processing; some knowledge of budgeting processes and general accounting. Working knowledge of recreation programs, establishment of team rosters and schedule classes. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, and management. Ability to direct, motivate, develop and evaluate sub-ordinates; good communication skills. Ability to interact well with children, ages 3-4yrs, willingness to learn, and provide good customer service.
