Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Head Athletic Trainer. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is located in River Forest, IL. The Head Athletic Trainer serves as an allied health care professional who collaborates with Team Physicians to optimize the activity and participation of the student athletes by developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive sports medical program for University intercollegiate sports. The Head Athletic Trainer will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program. Responsibilities/Duties: Develops a sports medicine program for the University, including injury prevention programs, injury management and rehabilitation, and educational programs for student athletes Coordinates student athletes' healthcare with team physicians and other medical support staff Attends scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary Schedules and coordinates athletic training staff for coverage of all team practices, home games, and competition; attends events as necessary Oversees recordkeeping and documentation of insurance claims and student athlete health records Trains and supervises Athletic Trainers, Assistant Athletic Trainers, Graduate Assistant athletic trainers and student worker training room assistants Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Skill Sets: Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and regulations Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills, particularly in electronic medical documentation Strong decision-making skills as it pertains to all facets of health care provided to student athletes Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated knowledge in related areas such as physical medicine, general medicine, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics/Kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, sports psychology, strength and conditioning, performance enhancement, drug testing, and concussion baseline testing Ability to supervise and direct all athletic health care professionals involved with student athlete health care services Ability to collaborate and build relationships with administrators, coaches, student athletes, and parents Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago Minimum Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of experience in collegiate/university athletic training is required Education/Training Requirements: Master's degree with a concentration in athletic training or related field required Certification through the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) State of Illinois Athletic Training Licensure Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification for the Professional Rescuer/American Heart Association BLS Provider Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
