Position Title: Gymnastics Teaching Assistant Position Location: Francis Family YMCA Position Type: Part-time, hours vary Pay: $10.10 - $12.00 per hour Be a difference maker, with the YMCA of Greater Toledo. General Function Francis Family YMCA is looking for energetic, dependable people to teach classes that include gymnastics, tumbling, and summer camps. While gymnastics experience is desired, we are willing to train someone who will grow and develop the program with us. The Gymnastics Teaching Assistant will instruct the participants in beginner tumbling and basic gymnastic skills. Introduce gymnastics skills with an emphasis on large motor skill development, balance, and coordination. A developmentally appropriate program promotes strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, focus, and gross motor skills. Responsibilities : Teach classes using positive teaching techniques Use proper progressions and spotting to teach skills safely Set equipment and use mats properly Be on time and have good attendance. Our students look forward to seeing their coach each class. Applicants should: Be energetic and enthusiastic about teaching Applicants must enjoy working with children Responsibility and dependability is a must. Students look up to their coach and depend on their coach to be there. Have a desire to continue learning Be a team player. We all work together to provide the best experience for each child. Be physically able to do the job. Coaching requires spotting kids, moving mats and lifting Understand and model the YMCA philosophy. Supervise and positively encourage participants. Assist with maintenance of program equipment. Continually relate to YMCA members and the community in which the YMCA serves and help maintain a positive image. Help distribute necessary public relations, flyers, newsletters, brochures, etc., as it relates to YMCA Gymnastics Program at the Francis Family YMCA. Qualifications At least 16 years old with preferred knowledge of gymnastics. Instructor must possess the ability to work with children of all ages and abilities, along with parents.
