Position Overview Reporting to Senior Manager of Visitor Experience, a full-time EPP Guide is responsible for warmly welcoming visitors; delivering authentic, consistent information about Glenstone's collections, mission, core values, campus and programs, learned through intensive training; and engaging visitors in dialogue about art, architecture, and landscape. In addition to their guiding duties, EPP Guides benefit from professional enrichment activities designed to foster personal and professional discovery and growth. EPP Guides work a schedule that supports the museum's operation as a visitor-centric destination. A typical workweek is Wednesday-Sunday. Wednesdays are devoted to professional enrichment activities, ongoing training, and all-staff meetings and team building; Guides work with visitors Thursday-Sunday during museum operating days; regular days off are on Monday and Tuesday. During preparation for special openings or visits, other hours may be required. EPP Guides should be self-motivated, eager to learn, reliable, and exhibit a high level of professionalism and maturity. Exceptional communication skills, interest in working collaboratively as part of a team, and flexibility are crucial to being successful in the role. Key Responsibilities Warmly and respectfully engage with each visitor, honor their intentions for visiting Glenstone, invite their perspectives, and respond appropriately. Create a contemplative, dialogic experience for individuals and groups of visitors. Quickly achieve proficiency in Glenstone's mission, history, collections, changing programmatic content, and campus through intensive training. Deliver correct and consistent information about Glenstone. Continue to learn and deepen knowledge about Glenstone's collection and its areas of focus. Collaborate respectfully with the internal curatorial, conservation, registration, program, administration, and operations teams, and with external partners and colleagues. Prepare for, attend, and participate in professional enrichment activities. Complete independent and collaborative projects as assigned. Required Skills & Experience Ability to engage directly, enthusiastically, meaningfully, and respectfully with visitors and colleagues from all backgrounds and with any level of knowledge of art, architecture, and landscape. Exceptional customer service, social, and communication skills. Punctuality and reliability. Intellectual curiosity about and familiarity with the art of our time. Desire to learn and demonstrate organizational and museum best practices, including those unique to Glenstone and its core values. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Respect for deadlines. Ability to spend up to 100% of guiding time standing, walking, and moving around the property. At least one year of experience interacting with the public. Prior experience working successfully as part of a team. Bachelor's or Associate degree. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Public speaking experience. Prior hospitality experience.
