Viterbo University invites applications for Graduate Assistant in Campus Ministry. As an extension of Campus Ministry, the Graduate in Ministry helps students become faithful servants and ethical leaders. The GA in Campus Ministry will support the planning, prep, and facilitation of retreats, service trips, liturgy/worship services, social activities, leadership development, and creating an inviting space that fosters a deep sense of Franciscan Community. In the fall of 2024, Campus Ministry began a Catholic Living Community (CLC) on campus. This position will have a primary focus on the success, growth, and well-being of the CLC. This is a part-time, 12-month position. Averaging 20 hours-a-week including flexible evening and weekend hours. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with university-wide Campus Ministry events and programming (e.g., weekly events, Agape Latte programming, liturgies and worship, retreats, and service opportunities). Assists in the coordination and supervision of the Catholic Living Community. Cultivate servant leadership skills in students primarily through student retreat teams, faith-sharing groups, bible study groups, liturgical leadership, and other campus ministry opportunities. Assists in creating and maintaining a campus community that fosters a deep sense of Franciscan Community through the development of hospitality, faith-sharing, bible studies, social activities, etc. Assists in the coordination and facilitation of Campus Ministry Retreats, weekly program events (worship, formation, and social), service trips, and other campus ministry opportunities for students. Assists in the promotion and marketing of Campus Ministry activities, including Campus Ministry website and social media accounts. Makes oneself available as a resource to students by scheduling office hours, developing ways to cultivate relationships with students through 1:1 mentorship/discipleship and being present during on-campus events, etc. Plan other activities with students based on student needs and interests (trips, concerts, talks, socials, etc.). Be an active member of Campus Ministry -attend regularly scheduled Campus Ministry/Liturgy Team meetings and hold regular office hours. Works collaboratively with other campus partners, students, and staff to promote all Campus Ministry programs and services. Schedule weekly meetings with the Director of Campus Ministry. General Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required, with 1-2 years related experience in ministry/leadership preferred. Must be enrolled in a Viterbo University Graduate Program and maintain good academic standing. Possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to develop an effective rapport with a variety of personalities. Ability to manage complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with urgent or immediate demands. Ability to work effectively, decisively, and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; confident in making independent decisions yet aware of when supervisory assistance is required. Capacity to manage stress and maintain personal and emotional stability in a demanding work environment. Possess a knowledge of the campus community. Have a deep understanding of Catholic, Franciscan Tradition and embody these ethics and values. Expectations: Act as a role model for the campus community by exhibiting a healthy, integrated, faith-based lifestyle. Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to handle highly confidential material, understanding that all University information should only be disclosed to others who have a need-to-know status for legitimate business reasons. Establish and maintain effective communication & working relationships with internal and external constituents. Accept supervision, new assignments, change, and constructive correction. Carry out all responsibilities professionally and maintain professionalism when dealing with all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Adhere to the policies and procedures established by Viterbo University. Have a healthy and active practicing spiritual life. Ability to appropriately share one's experience of faith and invite students to explore their sense of spirituality. Is passionate about fostering the growth of the Christian community. Compensation: Maximum 18 credit hours for the 2024 - 2025 academic year (6 - Fall, 6 - Spring, 6 - Summer).
