Position: Assistant Golf Professional Department: Golf Operations Reports To: Head Golf Professional Compensation (Yearly): Hourly (Commensurate with Experience): $10-$15/hour Merchandise Commission: Negotiable Benefits: Full Benefits Package (Health, Dental, Vision, 401K Match) Clothing Allowance Position Purpose The golf shop manager is responsible for the overall retail operation of the Golf Shop. Work daily to ensure the shop operation is functioning efficiently and that all phases of customer service are exceptional. Use interpersonal skills to promote the game of golf and all types of club events. Essential Functions Provide first-class customer service to members and their guests. Work with golf professional staff to control and manage play, ensure that all members/guests are greeted and checked in upon arrival. Promotes daily Golf Shop sales and superior customer relations. Assist with merchandise assortment and buying processes. Works closely with outside staff to coordinate first point of service. Develop and maintain shop displays that match the boutique standard. Plan, promote, merchandise and market special events and holidays. Manage the receiving and processing of all merchandise. Coordinate inventory controls, monthly reports and processes. Manages Special Order procedure. Find and coordinate innovative ways to drive gross margins. Coordinate and execute corporate apparel orders. Answers questions concerning club policies and services. Work with golf professional staff to enforce rules and regulations governing course usage. Assist the Head Golf Professional with yearly budget, merchandise goals and strategies. Any other duties as needed or determined by the Head Golf Professional. Other Regular attendance is expected in conformance with the standards established by The Patriot Golf Club. Due to the cyclical nature of the golf industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, to reflect the business needs of the club. Upon employment all employees are required to fully comply with The Patriot Golf Club rules and regulations for the safe, efficient operation of the club. Employees who violate club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Ability to communicate with at a high level with members, guests and fellow employees. Provide guest service and follow instructions. Strong organization skills, attention to detail and proper record keeping methods. Ability to handle multiple projects and provide various reports on a timely basis. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of the game and rules of golf is preferred but not required. Qualification Standards Education Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the graduation of high school or any other combination of education, training of experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform to the position standards. High school diploma required. Experience Minimum 6 months experience in retail operations is required. Physical Requirements Lift up to 30 pounds, bend, run or sprint short distances; stand for extended periods of time, able to withstand exposure to heat, cold, and elements of nature.
