Description:
Kleinschmidt has an immediate opening for Geotechnical Engineer in our Falmouth, Maine office (other office locations would be considered). Qualifications: BS in Geological or Civil Engineering (with concentration in Geotechnical or Geological engineering) from an ABET accredited college/university with 5+ years of experience. Possess PE or EIT designation working towards PE exam. Basic knowledge of standards applicable to geotechnical and civil/structural engineering disciplines, preferably with experience related to dams and dam safety. Experience with slope stability and seepage modeling software (preferably Slope/W and Seep/W). Experience performing geotechnical field investigations, including drilling and test pitting. Experience with design and construction of embankments, foundations, and temporary excavation support. High proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with a multi-discipline design team. Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States. Must be willing to travel. Typical duties of this position include geotechnical and general civil design tasks under the direction of mid- and senior-level staff. The position will require some travel time to complete geotechnical field investigations and perform on-site construction monitoring of earthworks/foundations. The successful candidate will be part of a team of technical professionals working on various hydroelectric and other renewable energy projects in the U.S. The successful candidate will be mentored by our senior staff in the fields of dam safety, geotechnical, structural, civil, and hydraulic engineering.
