Generator/Industrial Engine Field Technician

The successful candidate must be able to operate, install, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain all types of power generation and industrial engine/rental equipment in a fast paced environment and must be able to multi-task. The successful candidate must have good human relations skills and the personality to successfully communicate and problem solve with customers. Customer satisfaction is of primary consideration.The essential functions of this position include the following:- Independently and successfully diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain diesel and gas engines, air compressors, pumps and heaters-Reading schematics and diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical problems- Installation and commissioning of new units including generators, UPS, switchgear, automatic transfer switches and other related system products. This could include first time start-up installations- Coordinating with other systems being installed such as multiple generator sets and paralleling switchgear to ensure all related equipment works together properly as a system-Understand electricity and electronics including AC and DC circuits along with basic power generation systems-Performing both minor and major repairs to the engine, generator or components- Utilize a laptop computer for information, time keeping and diagnostic purposes- Prepare all part requisitions and service reports accurately with sufficient detail for service and accounting needs in a timely manner-Provide accurate and detailed information to create repair estimates as required-Monitor expenses versus repair estimates and ensures that the office is aware of any cost overruns prior to job completion- Understand the customer's needs and time constraints and completing scheduled repairs and service safely and within the time constraint identified while providing superior quality workmanship to meet and exceed the customer's expectations-Cares for and maintains all company vehicles, machines, equipment and tooling and ensures co-workers are doing the same- Perform work in various working conditions- Maintains a set of tools required for optimum job performance- Maintains a positive attitude- Mentor other technicians- Work with other divisions/departments within the company as needed- Attend training sessions as required- Work overtime as needed- Work in the shop as neededAs a Field Mechanic you are required to work in an industrial environment which includes exposure to significant environmental conditions.Physical requirements include:- Overall stamina- Sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing- Carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, listening, and speaking- Must have good motor coordination skills- Coordination of eyes, hands, and feet- Verbal intelligence and numerical intelligence- The workplace environmental conditions include subject to noise, heat, cold- Injury exposures, and atmospheric exposures- Must be able to lift 50 poundsRequirements:- Basic computer skills and good interpersonal and communication skills- Previous experience with diesel and/or gas engines, generators, switchgear is a plus-Available to work rotating On Call as neededAdditional requirements include:- Must have a clean driving record and a current driver's license- Must meet DOT regulatory & Cleveland Brothers requirements for operating company or related vehicles- Familiar with all DOT regulations and truck operations- Must sign all documentation to meet DOT regulations and company requirementsThis is a safety sensitive position
