General Maintenance Worker Job Preview The General Maintenance Worker performs maintenance and service throughout Hopedale Medical Complex and other properties owned and/or operated by Hopedale Medical Foundation. This includes indoor or outdoor locations. The General Maintenance Worker performs a variety of semiskilled duties in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and plastering. Responsibilities Monitoring and maintaining the operations and functions of both the interior and exterior areas of the properties. Change out shower heads, faucets, shower rods, bathroom fixtures as needed. Perform maintenance activities like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items. Assist with janitor and other personnel in the movement of furniture and equipment. Replace as needed wall mounted thermostats, light bulbs, ballasts, door locks and latches. Perform basic preventative maintenance functions with minimal supervision and not limited to plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine service, and basic electrical repairs. Complete general maintenance tasks and execute PM's. Assemble furniture Maintain grounds including snow removal and shoveling. Follow safety protocol and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Valid Illinois driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance is required Ability to read, write, follow written, and oral instructions is required. Working knowledge of general maintenance skills in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, boilers, plumbing, etc. is required Analytical skills necessary to recognize, diagnose and repair equipment and system malfunctions are required. Knowledge of safety procedures is required. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with others in determining and solving needs are required. Mathematical skills necessary to perform some calculations are required. When on call, you will need to be within a 30-minute drive from Hopedale.
