Job Title: Certified PhysicianJob Summary: Place of Performance: services at any of the following locations depending on the needs of the STVHCS.• Audie L. Murphy VA Medical Center, 7400 Merton Minter Street, San Antonio, TX 78229-4404• Kerrville VA Medical Center, 3600 Memorial Boulevard, Kerrville, TX 78028-5768Qualifications:Staff/Facility•License - Psychiatrist(s) shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State,Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when servicesare performed onsite on VA property. All licenses held by the key personnel working on thiscontract shall be full and unrestricted licenses. The physician (s) who have current, full andunrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted,suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or deniedupon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.•Board Certification - Physician (s) shall be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the AmericanBoard of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and becurrently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)or equivalency. All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification mustbe always kept up to date.• Technical Proficiency - Contract Psychiatrist(s) shall be technically proficient in the skillsnecessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand,read and write English fluently.• Scope of Care: physician (s) (as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging) shallbe responsible for providing Gastroenterology care, including, but not limited to:Clinic and Surgical Care: physician (s)) shall provide clinical Gastroenterology services.physician (s) shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented byphysical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.Operative Services: physician (s) shall provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterologyservices including the full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)procedures such as: Colonoscopy Colonoscopy via colostomy Colonoscopy w/biopsy(ies) Colonoscopy w/ablation of tumor/polyp/lesion Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forcep Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique Colonoscopy w/out biopsy Colonoscopy w/ submucosal Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) EGD diagnostic EGD w/biopsy(ies) EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forcep EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare techniquePhysician (s) shall provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient isnot ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatientclinic. Procedures shall be scheduled for completion within 30 days of the date of theconsult.Medications: physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies andprocedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.Discharge education: physician(s) shall provide discharge education and follow upinstructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterologyclinical or surgical patients.Quality Improvement Meetings: The physician (s) shall participate in continuousquality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required bythe facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.Staff Meetings: The physician (s) shall attend staff meetings as required by the facilityChief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee.QA/QI documentation: The physician (s) shall complete the appropriate QM/PIdocumentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome ofexaminations.Patient Safety Compliance and Reporting: physician (s) shall follow all establishedpatient safety and infection control standards of care. physician (s) shall make everyeffort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commissionor omission in the delivery of care.Powered by JazzHR
