The Foster Care Specialist position provides direction, leadership and day-to-day management of educational and departmental activities to Foster Parents. This position is responsible for the coordination and organization of the Agency Supported Foster Care program(s). The Foster Care Specialist also supports Foster Parents well-being by providing resources, education/training, on-call support and face-to-face visits with both the foster parents and foster children. The Foster Care Specialist is expected to work in a collaborative manner with other company employees, as well as Case Workers, and other professionals using a team approach to provide quality services for foster parents and foster children at all times. The Foster Care Specialist will not practice or deliver services beyond the scope of their abilities or requirements. The Foster Care Specialist is responsible for record keeping in compliance with company policies and procedures and as required by NDHHS and future accrediting agency. Education/Certification Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education/training, social work, criminal justice, human services or a related field. Experience Requirements: Previous experience in social work, human services or a related field preferred. Skills/Qualifications including but not limited to: Excellent training skills using adult learning concepts Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds Ability to work independently Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a professional and timely manner Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays Excellent problem-solving and stress management skills Strong attention to detail and organization Strong interpersonal skills Excellent written and oral communications skills Basic computer literacy skills, including PowerPoint, portal, spreadsheets, etc. Strong organizational skills Conflict resolution skills Legal compliance Building relationships / rapport Ability and desire to work as a team member Additional Expectations: While normal office hours are the norm, the Foster Care Specialist will need to be flexible due to required work on evenings, some weekends, and holidays Being on-call is also expected, on a rotation basis The Foster Care Specialist must demonstrate knowledge of the Agency Supported Foster Care and licensing The person in this position must also demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills This employee can apply detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and underlying management structure of BLC, external agencies/departments Knowledge of the larger institution of foster care and association affiliation with FFTA The employee will organize and prioritize work/tasks independently Establish procedures and systems, and ensure orderly and timely workflow Meet all Licensing regulations required by DHHS Work Location: Lincoln Job Type: Full-time Pay: $43,680 - $44,280 per year COVID-19 considerations: BLCS strives to ensure the safety of staff and families served.
