Description:

The City of Birmingham, MI (EOE) is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Fleet Mechanic in the Department of Public Services. Under supervision of the Streets/Sewer/Water Foreman, performs a full range of preventative and scheduled maintenance activities on City vehicles and equipment. Work includes diagnosing and repairing City equipment, assists with special projects, water main breaks, leaf pickup, snow removal and plowing. Outdoor physical labor and operation of various types of equipment; including dump trucks, snow plows, and light construction equipment. Candidates must be able to maintain equipment with advanced knowledge of safety procedures, and exercise good judgement. Performs other duties assigned. Required: High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by technical training in vehicle, & equipment repair. A minimum of 3 years experience in the maintenance of light and heavy equipment. Formal automotive or equipment training courses may be substituted for a portion of experience requirement. Michigan CDL w/A or B & N tanker endorsement, State of Michigan certified Automotive and Heavy Duty Truck Certification and/or National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Preferred: Master Automotive & Master Heavy Duty Truck Certifications. Welding & Metal fabrication experience. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
