Employment Opportunity Title: Financial Budget Analyst Department: Corporate Services Status: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $94,627.80 per annum, 35 hour/week Settlement Allowance: $20,907.43 Union Status: Unionized Housing: No Staff housing available Closing Date: Open until filled Under the direction of the Senior Director of Corporate Services, This position is responsible for preparing the annual City Operating budget, five-year forecast, decision-support services to the CAO and Council. Assists in the development of short- and long-range financial plans related to fiscal requirements; Comparing it to actual results, reporting on variances, analyze , facilitate, develop and interpret financial information and legislation in the budget, business process, systems and financial reporting, documenting, monitoring and reviewing controls and integrity. Prepares and reviews revenue and expenditure projections and assumptions. Conducts ongoing monitoring of City revenues and expenditures and provides analysis of trends, culminating in periodic reports on City’s financial performance and annual report on City’s financial condition. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS University degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a focus on Accounting, Finance or Economics. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years professional level experience in budgeting or accounting with exceptional electronic spreadsheet construction skills. Assets: CPA designation or other related professional designation Finance modelling expertise Familiarity with Public Sector Accounting Standards PREFFERED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Contextual Knowledge: Knowledge of the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Account Standards (GAAS); Knowledge in accounting practices and principles, budgeting and forecasting, financial management, reconciliation, variance analysis, delegated authorities, controllable capital assets, year-end, and other.
