Job Description: The Store/Field Crew will be primarily focused on working in the farm stand. They will be responsible for creating and maintaining attractive well-stocked displays of produce in the farm stand, answering customers’ questions, and ringing up customers. On Fridays and Sundays they will independently open, staff, and close the farm stand. On Saturdays they will work with our Market Manager. On Fridays they will help harvest vegetables, and help process vegetables (wash/pack) for sale.Qualifications: We seek team members who will be an excellent fit with our crew, and will find the position at Small Farm helpful for fulfilling their own goals. You: - Are at least 18 years old - Have had at least one position of employment, preferably in customer service- Are interested in expanding your knowledge and experience of farm systems- Are familiar with or eager to learn about vegetables and how to cook them- Are self-motivated and like to stay busy- Love being outside, even in extreme weather. You know how to dress to stay warm/dry/cool! - Are able to bend, turn, carry, and lift 40 pounds repeatedly, as required for stocking the stand- Are able to maintain a harvest position (squatting or bending) for a full morning- Are able to use a POS system to ring up customers accurately, with attention to detail- Feel comfortable communicating your needs - Receive constructive feedback well - Are organized, punctual, and have reliable transportation to the farm - Are comfortable working independently for hours at a time and working with a group Schedule: Length of position is June 3-October 19: June 3-August 31: Fridays 10:45-6:45 (with paid half hour break), Saturdays 1-6 (some additional Saturday hours may be available), Sundays 10:45-5:45 (with paid half hour break), September-October 19: Saturdays 9:00-6:00 (with 30 min paid break/30 min unpaid break), Sundays 10:45-5:45 (with paid half hour break)Compensation: $16/hour, vegetable CSA share during CSA weeks worked, 25% employee discount on farm stand purchases, up to 40 hours paid wellness leave to accumulate at a rate of 1 hour per 30 worked, workers’ compensation, and eligible for our retirement benefits program if earning >$5000/year.
