Summary The Family Assessment Specialist works with the Director of Family Engagement and Foster Care to Permanency Senior Program Directors to, support, educate, and assess families through a mutual selection process for appropriateness during the licensing processes of our foster care to permanency program. The Family Assessment Specialist is also responsible for associated program support, public relations, outreach, and family recruitment activities as required within the department. This is a remote position with a North Carolina residency requirement. Primary Job Functions Duties Establish or coordinate a system to track all received applications. Screening of all applications prior to progressing through the background check process Assisting all families who require Out of State Criminal Background Checks and Adam Walsh checks with navigation of Out of State/Adam Walsh check processes and provision of support until needed checks are received throughout the initial licensing process. Be knowledgeable and educate prospective families on current needs of the NC foster care system, the NC foster home licensing and relicensing requirements for foster and adoptive services, and orientation to agency and FC2P program. Meet with prospective foster/adoptive families for first interview to assess appropriateness and fit within the CHS FC2P program. Maintain complete and accurate records on all services provided and submit accurate and thorough reports on a timely basis. Recruit, develop and lead a team capable of supporting CHS performance and growth strategies (complying with COA Standard TS, when appropriate), while fostering an engaging, positive work environment. Excite and engage new families to become involved in CHS. Track new family applications. Maintain a strong understanding of FAQs on becoming a foster parent, continually learning from the manual as questions arise. Follow-up on and document all Foster Care to Permanency inquiries, sending out applications when necessary. Conduct individual information sessions as needed. Be available to conduct training for MAPP/DT. Promote the program at community resource fairs, meetings and other community events . Provide Resource Team coverage when applicable. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment. Motivates and engages colleagues to deliver outstanding results. Demonstrates a bias for action and dedication to achieving goals. Contributes to excellence within the team and across the organization. Work across program lines to support success of (appropriate?) family applicants. Job Qualifications Education, Licenses & Certifications: · Have a minimum of an Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a human service or behavioral science field · TIPPS-MAPP/Deciding Together training and State Foster Care Licensing training preferred. Experience: · 2-5 years' child welfare services experience required Competencies Knowledge of: Foster Care Licensing Requirements | Child Welfare System | Adoption & Foster Care Skills and Proficiency in: · Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Applications as well as electronic data systems, time sheets, expense reports, use of virtual platforms for meetings) · The ability to problem-solve barriers while being sensitive to maintaining professional relationships. · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Proven effective organization and time management skills. · Have a commitment to meeting the needs of the 4,000 children referred to CHS for a family placement every year. · Detailed and goal oriented, with excellent organization skills. · Excellent relationship building and relationship management skills. Ability to: · Perform other duties related to the Children's Home Society, Recruitment and Licensing Team goals and projects as needed. · Maintain valid NC Driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and have access to an operating vehicle in order to attend to CHS business. · Displays sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. At CHS, we recruit and work with all types of families. · Adhere to Social Work Code of Ethics or to the Code of Ethics appropriate to the applicable licensure/credentialing and comply with professional standards of the Child Welfare League. · Ability to make families feel comfortable, listened to, and connected to the organization. · Ability to lift 50lbs for the purposes of setting up events/festivals. · Agree to support the agency's mission and organizational values and beliefs. Schedule Expectations This is a remote position with a North Carolina residency requirement. This position is a salary exempt job that will require some weekends, and evenings work. Along with working our standard scheduled week. The ability to work flexible hours is required to meet business needs. If working remotely, will be required to be available by telephone and email during specified hours as required. Frequent travel required to conduct business-related activities.
