JOB DESCRIPTIONS: Research Institution located in Rockland County, NY is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform daily tasks in the Animal Research Facility. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. JOB DUTIES: Duties will include: Performance of daily husbandry for a variety of laboratory species, including environmental enrichment. Daily observation of health, monitoring of environmental controls, record keeping and reporting. Performing research activities in coordination with investigators as a member of the research team. Performing veterinary care in coordination with veterinary staff. Operation of cage wash equipment and other critical equipment. Conduct of quality assurance practices in the facility. JOB QUALIFICATION: Must be detailed oriented with the ability to follow direction and provide observations verbally and in writing. Must be willing and able to perform physical tasks which involve lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), walking, stooping, standing, pulling, etc. Must obtain and maintain appropriate medical clearance to work with research animals. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Candidates with 2-4-year degrees and or AALAS certification or its equivalent are highly preferred. Must not be allergic to animals, waste products, or bedding. Requirements are subject to change as a result of facility needs. Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements : Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment. *The Research Foundation is a private not-for-profit corporation and is not an agency or instrumentality of the State of New York.
