Reports To: Food and Beverage Director Department: Food and Beverage FLSA Status: Non Exempt SUMMARY This position is responsible for the accurate delivery of food courses that have been sent to the kitchen by the wait staff. The Expo/Food Runner is responsible for all food service to the Member / guest explaining menu items in a professional, courteous and responsive manner while adhering to Vasari Country Club's service policies. Incumbent will also perform opening and closing side work duties, assist with the setting up and breaking down of all banquet and dining room functions, and will help to keep the storage room, dining room, banquet room, and wait stations in proper order. HOURS/DAYS Hours and days fluctuate according to the wants and needs of the members and guests. Must be have open avilability including weekends and holidays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned Have a working knowledge of the table numbers and position numbers to initiate seamless delivery of courses. Report to work as assigned in neatly pressed uniform and in accordance with Club uniform, grooming and dress policies. Perform side work before dining room is open (slice lemons, prepare tables, make coffee, etc.) and perform closing side work after dining room is closed. Sets the front line of the kitchen in an organized manner to expedite the courses. Serves meal; places dishes by courses in front of each person. Assist the Chef with expediting and garnish of plates. Ensure members and guests are provided excellent service and excellent food. Resolve any menu corrections. Maintain dining room, banquet room, storage room, and wait station in clean and neat fashion. Ensure all items are spotless at all times. Assist in the set up and break down of all banquet and dining room functions. Keeps restaurant clean, well-stocked and organized. Maintains linens/restocking. Advises Department Leaders of any complaints. Performs clean-up and closing duties. Performs related banquet set-up tasks (moving tables, dance floor, furniture etc. & set up stations). Cleans all banquet equipment that will be used for the function. Provides immediate attention to members and guests as they arrive at the function. Assists in banquet function by serving cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and the meal. Pour and refill wine, coffee, water and/or other beverages served with and after the meal. Remove dirty dishes as needed. Cleans assigned work area. Knows the proper procedure for ringing the function through the POS computer system. Assists in the closing functions (removing linens, busing glasses, dishes, silverware, and re-setting the room, moving tables, dance floor, furniture). Attends and all food and beverage meetings. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Minimum one (1) year experience as a server in a fine dining setting required (experience in private club preferred). Must possess knowledge of proper dining room service. Must possess excellent interpersonal communicational skills and ability to interact professionally with members and guest while under pressure. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS N/A SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES Requires ability to remember guest names Requires ability to utilize computer Must be able to work long hours during the season PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires constant (67% -100% of the time) standing or walking around for 6 to 14 hours daily. Requires constant lifting of food trays, dishes, tables, chairs and glassware (up to 50 pounds). Requires constant bending, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must possess the ability to walk to and from kitchen and tables in a brisk fashion. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 0
