Long Term Care Services of Ventura County is an independent 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. It is not a government agency, rather it contracts with the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Ventura County to provide federally mandated Ombudsman services to seniors living in long term care facilities throughout the county. Approximately 60% of its funding comes from the AAA. We are currently looking for our new Executive Director. Our ED is retiring after 25 years and we are looking for the best qualified candidate to take on this role. JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Executive Director/Program Coordinator STATUS: Full Time Exempt SALARY: Dependent on experience and qualifications REPORTING TO: Board of Directors RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to): All administrative responsibilities of the program Budget/Finance and interfacing with contracted accountant to ensure adequate fiscal controls. Oversee/research/ and preparation of grants; required reports for grantors, the State Ombudsman Office and Area Agency on Aging. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plan. Creating opportunities for funding through media and community engagement. Program management, recruitment, and retention of staff and monitoring effectiveness of program. Recruitment, training, and in servicing, certification and decertification of volunteer ombudsman. Public, professional, and community relations; including community education presentations and networking; also interfacing and networking with community leaders to create awareness of program. Creation of collateral marketing materials, including website, newsletters, brochures, flyers. Visitation to facilities and complaint investigation as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of the 36-hour State Certified Long Term Care Ombudsman training and post-training mentored facility visits. Provided by agency Complete 18 hours of additional training annually to retain certification. (Provided by agency) Be at least 18 years old. BA Degree or equivalent experience. Possess prior administrative and management experience in private and non-profit sector. Comprehensive understanding of government funding and proficiency in grant applications and reports. Ability to research and identify private funding sources, submit successful applications and timely and accurate reporting. Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in modern office practices including functional computer skills; excellent communication and typing skills. Ability and willingness to make presentations to small and large groups. Valid California driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation Submit to and successfully complete a Live Scan fingerprinting background check. Knowledgeable in all aspects of long term or extended care and regulations governing same. NOTE: Ombudsmen are by law, prohibited from employment in a long-term care facility or from having any financial interest in a long-term care facility during the time they are acting in an Ombudsman capacity. An Ombudsman will be required to sign the Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest policy prior to commencing any assignments.
