Exempt/Non-exempt Non-exempt Status Full Time The City of Saint Charles Human Resources Department is currently recruiting for the position of Equipment Operator within the Public Works Street Division. The purpose of this position is to perform assigned skilled construction work to maintain and repair public infrastructure including roadways, storm and sanitary sewer systems, and support snow and ice removal operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Properly inspect, maintain, load and unload, drive and/or operate construction vehicles and equipment including hand and power tools, motor graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, high lifts, light tractors, street sweepers, dump trucks, street painting machines, snowplows, jack hammers, mixers, spreaders, etc, used during street and sewer maintenance / repair activities and snow removal operations. Performs routine maintenance and repairs to install / replace sign posts and street signs; Repair / replace potholes and cracked or damaged sections of asphalt / concrete roads and sidewalks. Knowledgeable of appropriate safety standards, procedures and equipment. Required to perform duties of Street Maintenance/Sewer Maintenance/Water Distribution Worker. Mandatory attendance and participation in: rotating on-call schedule, assigned overtime, civil emergencies, severe weather events including flooding and snow removal operations, special events, and call-outs. Respond to public inquiries and complaints. Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions High School diploma or G.E.D.; Associate degree in related field and experience with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred. Two year's experience related to general construction, maintenance and repair, and equipment operation, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid Missouri driver's license required. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsements required as a condition of employment and continued employment . Department of Transportation Medical Examiner's Certification required as a condition of employment and continued employment.
