University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Neurology Job Title: Epilepsy I Assistant Professor Position #00822850 - Requisition #33661 Job Summary: The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit dynamic candidates to expand its clinical and basic science research programs within our several of our sub-specialties. The position is full-time faculty, with the opportunity for academic promotion, which is determined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education, research, clinical care, and community service. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, caring, detail oriented, organized, proactive, able to think critically, focused on quality, dedicated to personal growth, and highly motivated. The position is located at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus . Hours will be dependent on business need (i.e., patient volume, schedules, research study needs). We are the premier research university in Colorado, serving more than 30,000 undergraduate, graduate and health professions students in Denver, Aurora and online and awarding nearly 4,000 degrees each year. The renowned researchers and award-winning faculty offer more than 100-degree programs through 13 colleges and schools. In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the University's School of Medicine was awarded more than $516.2 million in research grants and contracts. The Anschutz Medical Campus includes over 5 million square feet of research, educational and clinical space on 227 acres. Key Responsibilities: The duties in this faculty position will include teaching, research and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Section Head. Clinical duties may include responsibilities at the faculty-lev el for in-patient / out-patient services as we ll as consultations, and emergency consultation of the Neurology Department. While on service, obligations will include supervision of medical students, residents, and some fellows, supervision of patient procedures, and teaching of the house-staff as well as students. Teaching activities including attending neurology services, leading teaching conferences and training medical students, residents, and fellows.Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. Other duties may be assigned as need arises. Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO Why Join Us: This faculty position will work in the Epilepsy Section , which currently has 11 Epileptologists, 7 APPs, and 2 fellows. The Epilepsy Section runs several multidisciplinary collaborative and critical care clinics including the Epilepsy pregnancy clinic, Tuberous Sclerosis clinic, Non-Epileptic Seizure clinic, Neuro-feedback clinic, Diet clinic, Neuro-modulation clinic, Pre-surgery clinic, Surgery clinic, and Tele-epilepsy. The Epileptologists and Epilepsy APPs also rotate through and are responsible for staffing the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and inpatient EEG service (cEEG). All of these activities take place at UCHealth or surrounding Denver metro assigned sites.
