Principal Objectives/Purpose The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build relationships and trust with youth and young adults to maintain relationships that foster them continuing in their planned services. Our team also serves as an integral component with connecting to our community and spreading/demonstrating the mission of ACYR. Provides instruction, based on the Arizona Adult Education English Language Proficiency Standards, to prepare participants to successfully acquire the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to complete the English Language program; and to transition to career pathways and/or post-secondary education. Key Result Areas/Essential Functions Knowledge of the English language components (listening, speaking, reading and writing) Experience teaching/working with young adults and adult learners is a must Must consistently engage in learning and developing new skills and approaches Ability to work with various backgrounds to support diverse students Follow ACYR's Adult Education procedures for attendance, student enrollment, assessments, curriculum, and classroom instruction and management to ensure participant successfully completes the levels of English Language Acquisition for Adults Must be highly skilled in standards-based instruction; instructional design and planning; instructional observation; research and evaluation; and integrating technology Leadership, teamwork, collaboration, cooperation, facility in using virtual workspaces Be cognizant of ADE/AES (Arizona Department of Education/Adult Education Services) goals and targets; strive to meet or exceed these goals Participate in TABE Test of Adult Basic Education-English (TABE CLAS-E) training and any additional professional development training provided by ADE/AES Creates lessons that comply with the ADE/AES Standards and lead to students to become proficient in the English language Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Access) and Internet (browser, search engines) Consistently communicate with student (classroom expectations, contact students who stopped attending and attempt to re-engage) Use computers and computer systems to enter data or process information in various software programs, i.e. Excel, etc. Encourage and support students through online methods to increase advancement in coursework and job skills success Demonstrates superior, seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility Understands and utilizes positive youth development practices in all levels of work. Effectively establishes priorities based upon such factors as need for immediate action, work objectives and schedules Consistently displays a positive attitude and image of the agency Is calm and effective under pressure. Is capable of handling multiple significant issues and tasks simultaneously, unexpected changes in priorities and concurrent tight deadlines Perform other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field or 5 years' experience Able to obtain or currently hold an Arizona Adult Education Teaching Certification Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and Valid Arizona Driver's License 3 years in teaching elementary, secondary, post-secondary and/or adult education Minimum Qualifications Experience working with opportunity youth Bi-lingual/Bi-Cultural Required Competencies Vision Aligns the direction, products, services, and performance of a business line with the rest of the organization. Influences others to be excited and committed to furthering the organization's objectives. Promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables. Background Check Must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and how recent. The background check will consist of a reference checks, employment, education, and criminal background search. ACYR is an at-will employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check. Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements Valid Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business. Work Environment ACYR promotes communication, helping, healing and education between ACYR team members and students. Physical Demands Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
