English as a Second Language (ESL) Specialist - Part Time

Do you have a passion for working with English language learners? Are you experienced and comfortable utilizing flipped classroom teaching technology ? Do you enjoy piloting new initiatives and solving problems as they arise? If so, then this part-time position provides a unique and rewarding opportunity for you to have fun supporting the English skills of New Americans to make a difference in the lives of many. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you'll meet and teach wonderful people who are new to this country as you help them learn English, while also supporting volunteers to do the same. Your primary responsibility will be focused on leading the rollout of a new flipped classroom pilot project utilizing EnGen teaching technology. In this role, you will be responsible for championing the agency's use of this teaching platform while supporting your students to do the same. You'll also be responsible for developing and teaching a supplemental ESL curriculum that promotes workplace readiness and allows participants to achieve career mobility, in coordination with our Career Services team. Your secondary responsibility will be to support ongoing training of our volunteer ESL mentors. This is a hybrid position. Qualified candidates must be based in Buffalo / WNY with the opportunity for remote teaching alongside regular in-person visits with local teams and employers. You'll work with the support of the Community Education Manager and collaborate with our Career Services Department to ensure curricula support students' job readiness. WHAT YOU'LL BRING Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with two years of experience High comfort with flipped classroom teaching technology Experience working with refugee or immigrant populations Ability to perform duties with minimum supervision and manage time effectively Ability to work flexible hours to meet demands of the job, including evenings WHY WORK AT JFS?
