Grand Traverse County Road Commission is looking to hire summer interns for the 2023 summer season. The Road Commission is looking to fill a number of summer internship roles. Engineering Interns: assists County Highway Engineer and Engineering Department in application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil engineering, surveying and traffic management. GIS Intern: assists Information Technologies Manager in the implementation and population of the Geographic Information System (GIS). Looking for students who are interested in this field and strong computer & data entry skills. Students will utilize ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, ArcGIS Field Maps and GPS for data collection. This is an hourly position that will perform a variety of tasks. Some tasks are indoor, onsite but most are performed outside. Travel throughout the County will be required. This role is typically 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work both physically and mentally, enjoy working both as a team and individually, and want to be part of an organization that provides safe and efficient roads. Due to the nature of the job, must be at least 18 years of age. Competitive wages based on experience.
