Position Overview Do you have a passion for economics and an interest in utility infrastructure planning? Do you enjoy applying economic theory to real world challenges? Join the Fortis BC team as the Energy Supply Research Specialist and make a difference in the future of energy within British Columbia. As an Energy Supply Research Specialist, you will work at the intersection of economics and resource planning to help complete and publish a framework for expressing the Long Run Marginal Costs (LRMC) of the electric utility. You will work with both internal and external resources to complete a methodology paper with the objective of fairly expressing the long run marginal costs of the utility, specifically working to integrate electric Transmission and Distribution requirements in an existing approach. The primary outcomes of this position will be to finish writing a methodology paper in relation to the marginal cost of delivery (transmission and distribution) that is suitable for filing with the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC). Furthermore, you will combine the marginal cost of delivery with the LRMC paper previously filed with the BCUC into an academic paper format suitable for publication in a respectable peer reviewed journal. .
