The Weatherization Eligibility Specialist corresponds with clients to gather, review, verify and confirm documents and information on applications to determine eligibility. The Weatherization Eligibility Specialist will also perform and share general office responsibilities with other staff. The person in this position must be available to work a 10-hour day, four days a week, Monday through Thursday. Candidates must apply by 4/30/23 in order to be considered for first round interviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2 years of experience determining eligibility for Social Service/Human Service Program, or relevant experience reviewing detailed information. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Bilingual English and Spanish capabilities are required. * To qualify as bilingual, staff must possess demonstrated abilities to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish and English and pass a bilingual test. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. Advanced computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online tools. Ability to read, analyze and articulate technical procedures and governmental regulations. Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and empathy when communicating with clients, staff, and program partners. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Approved Drive Status is required for this position, including a valid driver's license, auto insurance, vehicle for use on the job or access to agency vehicle, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous five years. Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment. This position is subject to MWVCAA's Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Thoroughly explains eligibility requirements to potential clients. Utilizes State database to create client files and verify client information needed to determine eligibility. Delivers energy education materials to program participants. Tracks items given. Inputs costs into state and program databases. Maintains and accurately updates OPUS client database and program logs in a timely manner. Requests client utility usage history from utility companies via email. Compiles data for a job file. Maintains information for client referrals to other Community Service Agencies. Serves as back-up to the Program Specialist in attending community outreach events. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Maintains calm dispositions and regulates emotions when clients, staff, or others may become escalated. Regulates emotions and handles pressure of frequent demands for attention, time and work tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Occasional driving may be required. Manual dexterity for handling office equipment. Potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other conditions. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face coverings may be required. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor, office work environment with frequent interruptions and demands. Working with coworkers/clients over the phone and in-person. Occasional noise and distractions in workspaces. Driving in all weather conditions. Occasionally attends community outreach events in Marion and Polk Counties, as needed, which may be scheduled during evenings and weekends. *COVID-19 Alert: This position includes performing essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic and potential exposure to others who may be infected with the virus.
