Fort Bend Independent School District is seeking qualified applicants for the following position: Elementary Special Education Teacher SAILS School Year: 2024-2025 Location: TBD Job Overview: The Teacher Special Education SAILS Elementary Schools will provide instruction in academic, behavioral, communication, independent living, social, and personal care skills to students with disabilities using a variety of teaching techniques, materials and equipment. The Succeeding in Academic and Independent Living Skills (SAILS) program generally serves students with cognitive disabilities who require a curriculum focusing on (1) academic instruction based on prerequisite skills that are aligned to grade level TEKS, (2) communication/social skills, (3) independent living skills, and (4) job readiness/self-determination skills. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment Appropriate content area certification for the subject and grade level of the assignment, or demonstrate competency through the state's 2010 and 2011 High Objective Uniform State Standard of Evaluation (HOUSSE) Valid Special Education Certification EC-12 Special Education Supplement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training within one year of hire date De-Escalation/Restraint Certification within one year of hire date if not already certified Ability to plan and implement lessons based on the needs and abilities of students Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate technology equipment and software programs Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
