Maintains technical operability through preventive maintenance and repair, and provide integration with computer equipment when appropriate, of all on-site video related equipment including production, postproduction, and broadcast equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, provide work-around, and identify, recommend, and acquire contract repair and integration services as necessary to maintain existing systems as operational and incorporate new equipment into such systems for improved capabilities or operations. Maintains awareness of current and projected technological trends as they apply to educational production and delivery via satellite distribution, web-based services, computer-based training, etc. through the review of trade literature and attendance of technology conferences and seminars, and through other means. Some examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Maintenance, Installation, Fabrication, Testing and Evaluation/Research and Development, Sustainment, and/or Troubleshooting.Some examples of qualifying specialized experience include:Work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment.In addition to the above, you must have Experience preforming preventive maintenance and repair on video related equipment including production, post-production, and broadcast equipment and establish preventative maintenance schedules. Experience with studio broadcast equipment, both theoretical and practical, to immediately troubleshoot and repair a vast number of stand-alone and/or interconnected equipment items necessary to the production and broadcast processes. Experience communicating complex technical issues to diverse technical and non-technical parties and working with other production, program development staff, and clients both within and outside IRS.
