The City of Medicine Hat's Utility Distribution System's department is currently searching for a skilled System Control Operator to join their Electric Distribution team. This position supports the Operational groups and provides technical coordination and switching, SCADA control, as well as facilitates the construction, maintenance and repair of the City's electric transmission and distribution infrastructure. This highly responsible, technical position requires thorough knowledge and experience with the SCADA system and Control Room, the ability to maintain open and effective communication with crewmembers for work procedures and day to day operations and the ability to problem solve under stressful or emergency situations. Our ideal candidate Demonstrated ability to liaise with operational crews and exercise considerable initiative and judgement. Has a thorough understanding of electric utility systems, including working knowledge of relevant legislation. Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot specialized computer programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure coordination of work and completion of tasks are achieved in an effective and efficient manner. Enjoys supporting others to help them achieve their work goals, and are a positive team member who willingly shares tasks and celebrates both individual and team accomplishments. Qualifications Possesses a Journeyman Power Line Technician Red Seal Trade Certificate or Journeyman Power System Electrician Certificate.
