Summary St. Matthew's Preschool is a faith-based, licensed center serving children 18 months to age 5. IMMEDIATE OPENING - FULL TIME This full time position is for an assistant teacher for 3 and 4 year old classes during preschool and closing the 2 year old room from 3:00 to 5:00 on 3 days or more. The assistant will work 7 to 8 hours per day through closing. Schedule will be set within hours from 8:00 - 5:00. A part time position is also available for an assistant teacher for 3 and 4 year old classes for morning preschool for hours 8:30 to 1:00, with some flexibility preferred. Duties Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children, in play based learning centers. Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials. Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling. Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Requirements A MUST: Minimum of 6 months experience working in a licensed child care center. 1 year preferred. ECD 101 Certificate Must clear full background checks and must pass health screening. High energy. Ability to work well with others. An understanding of child development. Understand and abide by Spartanburg Quality Counts standards. Must be able and willing to take frequent walks, engage in outdoor activity, use hands, fingers and handle objects, to talk clearly and hear voices at different levels. Must be able to kneel, bend ,squat in the classroom and playground environment. Vision ability will include seeing up close and distances, to have peripheral vision and depth perception. Nice To Haves Current Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. 1 year or more of experience working in a licensed child care center. ECD 101 and additional Early Care and Education course work or degrees.
