Traders Point Christian Schools (TPCS), located on the northwest side of Indianapolis is seeking candidates for Early Childhood Assistant Teachers. Located in Whitestown, the fastest growing community in Indiana, TPCS is a fully accredited (ACSI) school serving over 620 students, ages 18 months - 12th grade, from six diverse central Indiana counties. Located on a 25-acre campus, TPCS is training scholars, making disciples and graduating leaders. TPCS has held four ribbon cutting ceremonies over the past 5 years commemorating their growth. A state of the art high school with athletic turf, Witham Field, opened its doors in 2017. In 2019, the Reed Athletic Center for strength and conditioning was completed along with the addition of seven new classrooms and in 2020, TPCS expanded once again with a 14,000 sq ft junior high addition. To meet the needs of an ever growing community, TPCS has received a seven-figure private investment to increase academic rigor. TPCS believes leading students to excellence will require an investment in exceptional faculty and staff and is positioned and prepared to attract top performers.The next Early Childhood Assistant Teacher will understand the unique opportunity and embrace the challenge of building a healthy, Christ-centered school with a focus on growing academic excellence while making an eternal impact in the lives of students. Position: Early Childhood Assistant Teacher for 2024-25 Primary Responsibility: This individual is responsible for assisting the lead teacher in guiding students as they navigatethrough social, personal, academic and most importantly spiritual growth. Position Goal: The major responsibility of the position is to assist in educating students in a manner consistentwith our school vision. This includes assisting students with age appropriate academicexperiences to facilitate a smooth transition into the next age group. Each assistant teachershould have an understanding of the social, emotional, physical and, most importantly,spiritual changes that will occur during these early years. This individual will take precautionsset by the administration to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. An assistantteacher will assist the lead teacher in maintaining standards of classroom behavior, upholdingand enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy. An assistant teacher isexpected to assist in developing and maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive toeffective learning within the limits of the available resources. The assistant will also aid inevaluating student progress by providing feedback to the classroom teacher on a regular basis,as requested. QUALIFICATIONS Educational and Experience Requirements: The assistant teacher must hold a CDA (Child Development Associates) Credential orAssociates degree in Early Childhood and have a strong desire to work with children, andexperience in this area is preferred. If an assistant does not have a degree or CDA, they must bewilling to work toward a CDA within the first 12 months of employment. The InstructionalAssistant will also obtain 12 hours of professional development training and 4 clock hours ofcertified Bible Training over the course of the school year. All teachers will keep a currentInfant/Child CPR and first aid certificate on file. Qualifying Characteristics: The teacher is a Christian with an authentic and a mature personal relationship withJesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitmentto Christian education. The teacher must have the desire to work closely and nurture apositive relationship with students, teachers, parents, staff, school administrators andcommunity members. The teacher must demonstrate respect for all. The ability toexercise good judgment, set a good example and comply with school standards is a must, as well as the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues in a tactful andprofessional manner. As a teacher at TPCS, you are expected to instruct and model important religious functions that include Bible instruction, prayer, participation in weekly chapels, and other religious duties. At TPCS, your role as a teacher involves a pastoral element whereby through example and direct instruction, you are acting as a minister of our Christian faith. RESPONSIBILITIES The assistant will: Report 30 minutes before class and stay 30 minutes after class to prepare and clean the room. Work the days and hours as assigned by the Principal. Assist in carrying out age appropriate lessons that will engage, instruct and enrich the students in accordance with the policies and Christian philosophy of Traders Point Christian Schools. Be familiar with the state guidelines and resources from others in the field to equip students to reach their individual goals. Encourage an attitude of Christlikeness in all aspects of the classroom: lessons; relationships (student, parent, and staff); classroom management, and discipline. Assist in planning and ordering the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom that is neat and orderly and conducive to learning. Assist in employing a variety of age appropriate instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the resources available. Attend all staff meetings and training sessions that are requested by the supervising principal and/or Head of School. Staff meetings are held on a monthly basis for Early Childhood staff. Attend staff Bible study as requested by supervising principal. 12 hours of staff in service training plus 4 clock hours of a certified Bible course are required for the Instructional Assistants. Assist in various public relations events sponsored by the school. Maintain a current Infant/Child CPR and first aid certification. Work effectively in aiding the lead teacher, including clear communication and duties, as assigned. If conflict should arise, the Matthew 18 principle should be followed as it is described in the TCPS Employee Handbook. Continue to remain current with updates in technology and technological resources, as needed. Employee must have: Fingerprint and background check (provided)First-Aid Certification (online class provided)Exempt Status: Non-Exempt; Hourly.Work Schedule: Academic Year
