GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:The position of Electric Arc Furnace floor Operator is responsible for all operating functions of the Electric Arc Furnace as listed below.Complete understanding of EAF operations with the objective of utilizing the equipment to meet all of the quality and productivity standards as defined in the quality system.DUTIESESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Listed below are the primary activities for which this position is responsible. The Process Engineer / Supervisor is responsible for evaluating each person's progression, and providing additionaltraining as required1. Complete check of furnace.2. Check fluorspar.3. Check diesel and oil in forklift4. Keep stock of electrodes.5. Keep stock of oxygen jet lances.6. Keep stock of temperature and sample probes.7. Check hydraulic fluid levels.8. Check power cables.9. Keep stock of gunning material.10. Keep furnace area clean.11. Check and maintain lime silo level.12. Check and maintain alloy bin level.13. Operate slag skimmer14. General inspection of ladle. Change out if necessary.15. Operate ladle preheater and dryer.16. Lengthen electrodes when needed.17. Add electrode sections with EXO machine or manually when needed.18. Clean slag door with forklift.19. Clear the spout with the oxygen lance.20. Take all manual temperatures and samples from the EAF and slag skimming station.21. Send Metallurgical samples to lab22. Housekeeping23. Maintenance inspection as required.24. Work with maintenance during breakdown periods.25. Fill out all logs, records and other paperwork as required.26. Work as a team member to insure that all jobs are completed in a timely manner.27. Perform other miscellaneous tasks as defined by supervisor.28. Follow all safety procedures.SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1.Other duties as assigned.2.Participation in continuous improvement programs.QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:1.Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)2.Must work well with others3.Good Communication Skills4.Time Management Skills5.Basic Computer Skills
