About The Opportunity The Diverse Educator Pathways Fellowship is a two-year grant-funded position focused on recruiting, cultivating, and retaining diverse populations of educators. Co-reporting to the Senior Director of Talent Acquisition and Staffing and the Director of Employee Effectiveness and Development, the Fellow will be charged with working across the HR & Talent team to develop and deepen data-driven recruitment strategies that increase the number of pathways to the classroom. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and creative thinker to design and implement a strategy that supports CPS’s strategic mission and vision and ensures that all students see themselves represented in their educators. The ideal candidate has previous school-based, central office experience ideally in the recruitment and selection function of the talent/ HR/ people team. They will also have demonstrated experience in successfully using data-driven practices and tools to drive and execute teacher recruitment strategy in organizations or settings similar to CPS. What You’ll Do As the Fellow you will support the HR & Talent team in the following, among other duties as assigned by your Supervisor: Support the Design of a Comprehensive Strategy: Working with CPS leaders and a third party consultant, the DEP Fellow will support building out a comprehensive strategy for diversifying the educator workforce. Strategy design includes researching best practices from similar sized districts and developing a dashboard for tracking progress. Cultivate Homegrown Talent: While CPS already has leaders overseeing various pipeline initiatives from a programmatic lens, the DEP Fellow will provide direct support to individuals in educator pipeline programs. This effort will dramatically increase the matriculation of participants going through programs such as TEACH Cincinnati. Recruit Educators and Build Partnerships at the Local and National Level: The DEP Fellow will plan and attend local and national recruitment events to source, network with, and proactively reach out to candidates from under-represented groups. This includes building partnerships to recruit and engage education majors attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Increase CPS Central Office Capacity and Skill-Building: The Fellow will update and or develop hiring materials, talent data needed to drive school-based staffing decisions,competency based rubrics, and interview materials with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. Additionally, the Fellow will increase district capacity to evaluate candidates objectively through professional learning opportunities and mentoring. The Fellow will also work to strengthen school-based partnerships specifically working with school leaders around anticipating, tracking and securing talent for school-based staffing needs. Retain Diverse Educators: The DEP Fellow will be responsible for overseeing a strategy to retain CPS’s diverse educators. The Fellow will make recommendations to improve future employee experiences based on information received from current staff and staff leaving the district as well as proactively create programs (i.e., mentorship) to support educators of color. Not only will the program offer support for new educators, but it will also help build a system of support for all employees of color within the district. Strengthen Data-driven Recruitment Practices : The DEP Fellow will serve as a data storyteller around district recruitment change/updates through the use of presentations, data modeling, and visualization tools like Tableau, etc. They will synthesize data, metrics and analysis across different functions of the HR & Talent Team, using multiple internal and external systems and sources that integrate into a holistic, actionable recruitment plan. Your insights will help senior leaders make thoughtful decisions related to our people and talent function. A competitive compensation package. For this 12-month position, we’re offering between $94,739.35 - $112,575.92, based on experience. Please note that role is part of the Cincinnati Association of Administrators and Supervisors (or CAAS). This role is categorized as an Associate, Level 2.
