Position The Finance department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF Insurance values to join their team as a Director Reinsurance. This is a full-time, exempt position that works out of WCF's Sandy, Utah, office. This position is open to internal and external applicants . Responsibilities Provide oversight of the organization's ceded and assumed reinsurance structure and strategy. Support the Chief Risk Officer in providing company-wide strategic and tactical leadership in advancing the organization's enterprise risk management framework, governance, procedures, and practices, and in enhancing risk culture and strategy through active involvement in WCF's three lines working group, risk tabletop/learning exercises, risk identification, monitoring, assessment, measurement, modeling, mitigation, and development of risk appetite and tolerance ideology, and policy. Work in close cooperation with functional leaders, the executive team, and peers across the organization to help drive business growth, achievement of strategic goals and maintain a balanced risk/reward framework for reinsurance. Provide oversight of the catastrophe modeling function and evaluates modeled inherent and residual risk. Effectively evaluate risk aggregations, establish tolerances, and oversee the performance of stress and scenario tests to identify exposure to catastrophic events and evaluates adequacy of held capital. Critically analyze past insurance claims and premium data and reinsurance attachment points and opine on the effectiveness of the reinsurance program. Develop specialized knowledge of our focus lines of business to identify reinsurance solutions that pertain to the risks of those lines. Ensure compliance with the terms of the reinsurance contracts. Collaborate with the claims department regarding loss documentation and claim related questions needed for reporting to reinsurers. Assist in the initial establishment and ongoing enhancement of ORSA and Model Audit compliance. Serve as point of contact for reinsurance brokers and reinsurers. Advance our risk strategy and provide thought leadership on risk appetites, risk tolerances, and control framework for monitoring and analyzing risk to the organization and is responsible for the overall reinsurance structure design to address that risk strategy. Oversee the company's corporate insurance including E&O, D&O, EPL, property and corporate auto, cyber, and other commercial coverages. Explain risk management concepts clearly to company management. Qualifications The most qualified candidate will have: Bachelor's degree in accounting, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or insurance. Master's degree preferred. At least eight years of experience in reinsurance and enterprise risk management. Certification in Enterprise Risk Management, preferred. Strong decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with others at all levels and business functions across the organization. Ability to interpret reinsurance contracts and have working familiarity with a wide spectrum of reinsurance programs: Quota Share, Excess of Loss, Facultative, Treaty, and others. Well-versed in financial reporting, actuarial processes including pricing and reserving, catastrophe models, regulatory capital models as well as economic capital models. Experience in implementing and/or maintaining Model Audit and ORSA structures and control environments. Able to leverage data to support a hypothesis and influence financial planning and risk strategy. Knowledge of profit commissions, reinstatement provisions, ceding commissions, etc. An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and a good attendance record and must notify their current supervisor that they've applied for the position.
