The Director of Talent Acquisition leads talent acquisition efforts across the organization and attracts top talent to support our mission of protecting the blue plant. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the organization's talent acquisition strategy and the team that builds innovative programs to attract and engage talent - including those from underrepresented backgrounds - for paid staff, internship, volunteer, and apprentice opportunities. The Director recruits approximately 30% of the time and acts as a Talent Acquisition subject matter expert across the organization, providing expertise to ensure talent acquisition strategies and processes incorporate best practices that support DEI goals and workplace culture, and that outcomes support mission delivery. The Director leads significant projects that support workforce development and the evolution of talent strategies and capabilities and improve the applicant and manager experience through the talent acquisition cycle. This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm with the option for a hybrid schedule, working some days on-site and some days remotely. Remote days are only available for residents of MA, RI, NH, ME, NY and VT. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Sustain a high-performing talent acquisition team, providing professional development and coaching to ensure operational excellence. Maintain the culture of cross-functional collaboration within the talent acquisition team Develop specific sourcing/outreach strategies and programs to attract and retain a diverse workforce. Oversee all talent acquisition activity, shifting resources and priorities to meet demand. Work with the Associate Director of VPI to ensure we maintain robust volunteer, internship and apprentice programs incorporating recognition, professional development, and connection to the mission. Ensure hiring managers receive training in best practices in interviewing, selection and onboarding. Lead the operational aspects of talent acquisition. Maximize the use of the ATS and other technology solutions, and drive process improvements. Lead with a continuous improvement mindset, involving the talent acquisition team and hiring managers in identifying process improvements in our hiring practice that will reduce the time to fill and increase the quality of placements. Track, analyze and report recruitment metrics and affirmative action data. Update the Affirmative Action Plan and identify annual goals. Collaborate with the Director of DEI on overall diversity goal setting Lead the team in contributing to a positive onboarding experience Collaborate with members of the broader Talent & Culture team to provide a high level of service to staff and managers. Assist with other HR generalist responsibilities including employee recognition and engagement, resolution of employee relations issues, compliance training and DEI and safety initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Training and Experience Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience leading a team in a high-volume talent acquisition setting. Experience delivering recruiting programs that engage a diverse audience and emerging talent from underrepresented backgrounds. Demonstrated skills in sourcing, pipelining, and networking and extensive experience with sourcing tools and best practices. Certification in diversity recruiting or other professional certification and/or a Master's degree a plus. Experience working in a Human Resources department and exposure to generalist responsibilities in a business partner capacity preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced knowledge of employment-related legislation and best practices related to sourcing, staffing, DEI, employee relations, affirmative action and compliance. An analytical mindset with proven experience using data and data-driven insights to support decisions and drive action. Excellent written and verbal communication along with presentation skills are required. Excellent project management and organizational skills are required. A commitment to providing a high level of service to all stakeholders, demonstrating approachability and inclusivity. Proven success in building engaging working relationships through trust, collaboration, and direct communication. A high level of initiative and creativity, as well as intuitive problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Applicant Tracking Systems, and HRIS.
