OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: Under direction of the COO, this position is responsible for the effective management of operations for the Residential Program, to include all operating cottages, overseeing staff and monitoring clientele. The Director of Residential Services is fully responsible for the operational aspects of the programs, to include supervision of the scheduling for each program, hiring, supervising, and training of staff, house maintenance, and task assignments. The Director of Residential Services is an essential part of the Care Team and will provide input and follow through in line with youth needs and goals. This position is responsible for the promotion of Landmarks for Families's programs in the community, building relationships with relevant community collaterals and continuous quality improvement of the programs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Operation Management : Develops and Implements short and long-range plans for the programs. Works with the Consultant Managers to ensure that there are adequate staff for each program shift and that staff are fully trained in the operational aspects of the programs. Develops systems and protocols necessary to provide an efficient and effective program structure. Works with the COO to ensure that compliance standards are met, and policies and procedures are followed appropriately, minimizing agency risk. Staff Development : Serves as a positive role model for staff and clients. Establishes sound and supportive staff supervision practices that focus on improved staff performance and development. Develops means of effective communication with the Consultant Managers through regularly scheduled meetings. Promotes training of all staff. Obtains CPI certification and supports all agency training initiatives. Budget Management : Responsible for the effective day-to-day management of the program budgets and works with the COO to ensure that the program operates in a cost-effective manner. Collaborative Relationships and Development : Creates positive working relationships with other professionals within and outside the agency. Actively participates in supervisory meetings and assists the Leadership Team in resolving agency-wide issues. Actively promotes the program and Landmarks for Families in the community by participating in community events and speaking engagements. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure client and agency needs are consistently addressed. Program Improvement : Works to actively identify and implement quality improvements in the programs, assists appropriate Landmarks for Families staff in meeting all licensing, accreditation and national organization standards and assists with the development of outcomes-based services. Teamwork, Quality Improvement and Cultural Sensitivity : Promotes the spirit of teamwork, demonstrating the ability to be a good colleague, strives to continuously improve the quality of the agency and self; accepts cultural and individual differences, upholds the vision and mission of the agency and actively participates in agency initiatives to achieve these goals. Contacts : Contact with all levels of management and staff within the agency and extensive contact with other agencies, community leaders, donors, Advisory Council members, volunteers and professionals in the community. Decision Making Authority : Must be able to make decisions to effectively manage the operational aspects of the program. Seeks consultation from the COO for major decisions. Major Challenges : Must be able to oversee effective program services that meet the needs of a wide age range of clients who have experienced trauma. Must be able to evaluate the current services and staff and determine what changes need to be made. Must be able to effectively interact with Advisory Council and Auto Lab Committee members and provide strong leadership to Council and staff. Must be politically astute and savvy at negotiation and compromise. Must be comfortable working extensively with others in the community and able to support effective fundraising. Must be able to manage and address program needs within a restricted budget. REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB : Willingness to drive to campus to respond to crisis situations. Willingness to work outside of regular business hours, including during crisis situations and/or emergency evacuations. Willingness to maintain regular on-call status. Ability and desire to work with youth who have experienced trauma and may exhibit behavioral challenges. Obtain Teaching Family Certification after initial evaluation. Must be approved to drive youth in Landmarks for Families owned-vehicles by Landmarks for Families's insurance carrier. Must pass a criminal background check. Ability to pass scheduled and/or random drug tests. Functional Knowledge : Advanced management, and supervisory skills. Type of Knowledge Required : Knowledge about child development and the treatment of abused children. Education and Specific Training : Bachelor's degree in a human service field with minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience or combination of both education and experience. License or Certification : Valid SC driver's license and a good driving record. Experience : Experience with abused and neglected children and family preservation/reunification services. Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience. Responsibility Level : Works under consultative direction. Assignments are self-initiated. Supervisory Responsibility : Responsible for supervising Residential Managers within the programs.
