About Rocky Mountain Prep Rocky Mountain Prep is a growing network of innovative public charter schools, serving students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade in the Greater Denver Area. Rocky Mountain Prep opened its first school in 2012 with 130 students and has grown to four schools, working with over 1,800 scholars across two districts. Grounded in our culture of rigor and love, our schools consistently outperform local districts academically, while also ensuring our scholars are developing in our PEAK values of perseverance, excellence, adventure, and kindness. In the school year 2023-2024, we will grow to 12 schools serving over 5,000 students. During the 2023-2024 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals: 1. Going Green on the Colorado School Performance Framework 2. 90% Student Persistence 3. 95% Daily Attendance 4. Fully Enrolled by October Count 5. Academic Goals - Elementary: Pre-K Students show 1 year of growth - Elementary: Kinder through 2nd Grade Students Grow 1.25 years in ELA and Math - Elementary: 40% of 3rd through 5th Grade students meet their Millionaire Goal (1 million words read) - Middle School: 40% of 6th through 8th Grade Students meet their Millionaire Goal (2 million words read) - High School: 100% College Acceptance Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics that are aligned to both their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2022-2023 school year. As a Director of Operations, you will be held accountable for some of these goals. Role Mission The Director of Operations is responsible for managing a portfolio of schools toward operational excellences in Attendance, Enrollment, Safety, SOPs and outcomes. They are a critical member of the network support team. In partnership with the network operations team, they support all schools in meeting goals and supporting student outcomes. In this role, you will… Co-lead network strategy for student attendance / student enrollment/recruitment . Provide direct, on-campus support to campus operation teams as needed Create and lead iterative professional development throughout the year designed to drive outcomes for students Generate and maintain policy and guidance documents Lead team data reflections and action planning in response to current network data. Coach, develop, and drive performance for schools and their operations teams. Core functions of this bucket of ownership include coaching and development of a portfolio of schools Collaboration with Principals and Executive Directors to set contextualized goals for campus operations teams responsive to their schools’ needs Coach campus operations leaders in the management and development of their teams, including Office Associates, Campus Operations Associates, and Registrars Manage other operations processes, projects, and personnel depending on network needs. Direct management of campus Assistant Principal of Operations Support Family Engagement Partnerships and endeavors Other duties as assigned Competencies A proven track record of results in achieving organizational goals and in using data to do so Broad subject matter expertise in charter school operations, including emergency procedures, student attendance, recruitment/enrollment, school budgeting, district and vendor relations and management, and more. High level of competence in the basics of project management Demonstrated skill set in coaching to get results while also personalizing individual development plans and management approaches depending on the needs of the coachees. Maintain a calm and even-keeled disposition when faced with multiple competing priorities and emotional stakeholders An intuitive understanding of the “Ops role” in service to the academic program and to our communities. This looks like an unwavering customer service mindset and the ability to project it authentically. Ability to manage “up, down, and around,” leveraging influence and not titular authority to get things done. Able to receive data-driven coaching, observations, and implementing feedback to improve outcomes Understanding that good operations people find ways to say yes instead of reasons to say no. Ability to balance reactiveness to emergent circumstances against the maintenance of a laser focus on goals and outcomes.
