The Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Director of Operations position. In preparation for a retirement, the District wishes to hire a person who can learn the job while the incumbent is here. This position will manage, direct, and oversee all operations, procedures, and functions in the Wastewater Treatment and Laboratory departments. This position coordinates and oversees specified contractual relationships and assists with a variety of special projects. This position oversees the industrial pretreatment program and develops and oversees procedures for optimizing wastewater treatment operations.A minimum of ten years of practical experience in a wastewater treatment facility of equivalent size and complexity is strongly preferred. This experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or other science related fields is preferred. Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. This position reports to the Executive Director. This position must have a Class I Illinois Wastewater Operator's license or able to attain one within one year of placement in the position.The District offers a competitive benefits package.
