Job Description: Position Summary: The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, leading, and evaluating organizational nursing programs that include, but are not limited to quality, documentation/workflow management, nursing regulatory compliance, recruitment and retention, training and clinical data systems. This individual provides leadership and strategic direction in the integration and harmonization of clinical practice to improve patient care across the health center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Director of Nursing participates as an active member of clinical leadership team, and works collaboratively with the CCO, Medical Director, clinical leads and other interdisciplinary leaders to establish short and long term goals and implementation strategies that support the health center’s strategic plan and priorities. The Director of Nursing is accountable for strategic and operational nursing leadership in the selection, development, deployment, reengineering, optimization, and integration of clinical and management information systems and staffing models to support clinicians and patient service. The Director of Nursing is responsible for leading clinical policy and workflow harmonization efforts to maximize patient safety, quality of care, and operational efficiency; providing direction for training and support optimization and overseeing ongoing role development of entity-based super users. Adheres to nursing workflows and evidence based guidelines. Consistently performs nursing duties in a respectful and patient centered manner. Communicates with patients and staff in a way that is culturally sensitive and relevant to populations we serve. Works collaboratively with other care team members and encourages self and care team members to practice to peak of scope. Develops and implements workflow and quality audits on nursing staff. Proactively identifies opportunities for risk and works to mitigate risk. Ensures all nurses and staff receive and pass competency assessments Works collaboratively, demonstrating partnerships with physician leadership and service line administrative staff to develop and maintain clinical practice standards of care and operational programs. Develops annual training plan and works collaboratively with HR and medical services to identify training opportunities and schedules. Sets organizational standards of care and evidence based guidelines for nursing and clinical support staff. Sets organizational goals and standards for care management program. Provides reporting to Sr. Leadership on nursing effectiveness, staffing and quality of care. Participates in committees and teams as representative for nursing staff Works with CFO, CCO and Sr. Leadership to establish annual budget and staffing plan that results in achievement of high quality, low cost of care. Establishes the operating budget for the clinical department; monitors expenses as balanced with patient volume and other indicators; and evaluates outcomes, making modifications and adjustments as indicated. Establishes and monitors a set of metrics to define operational, clinical and financial goals Achieves goals on >50% of evaluation metrics. Develops and adheres to new staff orientation and accountability plan in conjunction with other Develops and implements sustainability “check ins” for staff Is a highly respected and valued member of the leadership team Plans, implements, and annually evaluates service based quality and performance improvement programs consistent with the organizational plan. Establishes processes to create, evaluate and improve or sustain an environment that promotes patient/family, physician and staff satisfaction. Designs, implements and evaluates programs and activities to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies as pertains to nursing and /or patient care services, such as JCAHO, NCQA, HRSA and FTCA. Participates in developing and implementing interdisciplinary outcome standards. Participates in and/or leads interdisciplinary quality and performance improvement projects pertinent to service line goals and objectives. Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing leadership programs. Supervisory Responsibility -Special Populations Team Lead, OB Team Lead, Nurse Team Leads Qualifications and Education Requirements: One of the following combinations of education and employment experience must be met in order to be considered for the position: Education And Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree preferred. Must be licensed as an RN in Massachusetts Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in pertinent area of practice; Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)Powered by JazzHR
